As it was a nice sunny Sunday today I decided to do one of my favourite walks to Coldfall Woods. I grew up in these woods as I used to live in Muswell Hill just around the corner
Coldfall is 14 hectare and mainly oak and hornbeam. Since I was a child it has had a lot of work done to it. For example down by the field it always flooded due to the build up of silt and the drain that used to be there disappearing. Now they have made a feature of this with a wooden bridge going across it and signs up saying Mini Everglades
After a couple of laps of Coldfall woods, we went on to Muswell Hill Fields which attaches to the wood and the cemetery. Muswell Hill fields is a big open field with several football pitches and a play area at one end. If you walk along the playing fields you will come out into Trott Road
When you reach the bottom of Trott Road if you turn left and cross over the North Circ you will shortly come across an entrance into Coppets Wood (just past Tesco). I have never looked it up but I suspect at one point this would have been part of the same woods.
